Meet the Owner:

Hey guys! I’m Lindsay, the owner of Flex Bakery. I’m really looking forward to sharing my love for baking and fitness with you.

Flex Bakery

This bakery has been a dream of mine for a while now, and the path that led me here is what determined the final concept of offering protein infused desserts. In high school I found my creative outlet in the kitchen, and went on to study Baking and Pastry Arts from some of the best chefs at Johnson and Wales University in Charlotte. They taught me the science behind baking, as well as different ways to prepare a recipe – making it gluten free, soy free, vegan, etc.

I was also always athletic growing up, but didn’t start tracking calories and macronutrients until I started powerlifting two years ago. I went from being a cardio bunny doing 45 minutes a day with little results, to being the strongest and most confident I’ve ever been. I’ve even competed in two powerlifting meets (and more to come).

At my lowest point I restricted myself to less than 1,000 calories per day, and didn’t allow myself to indulge in simple things like butter with bread at dinner. To me, this was having “control”, and when I couldn’t stand to starve anymore I raided my secret snack stash to binge while the rest of the house slept.

This was a cycle that I didn’t break out of until I became truly educated in the importance of fueling my body with the proper balance of protein, carbs and fats. I learned to see food as a gift rather than a curse. The gym has saved me from some of my weakest moments in life; it has given me confidence, a healthier body, and a community of some of the most encouraging and genuine people I’ve ever met.

Now that I’ve come this far, I’m confident I can use my fitness knowledge in the kitchen to create healthy treats that will never leave you feeling anything but satisfied.
